Robin Cousins Career Overview
After winning Olympic Gold at Lake Placid in 1980, Robin Cousins won the
World Free Skating Championship Gold Medal three times, along with
European Championship Gold. A highly successful career as a professional
skater followed, appearing as special guest star with Holiday On Ice, with
whom he set new (and currently unbroken) Box Office records at Wembley
Arena and guest appearances with Ice Capades in the USA.
Forming his own IceCompany in 1983, he toured the world with Electric Ice
and Ice Majesty. The London run of Electric Ice at the Victoria Palace
was extended from 7 weeks to 14 due to popular demand.
He has starred in TV spectaculars;co-produced and choreographed Symphony
of Sports; produced Skate for Life and was technical advisor/choreographer
on the movie The Cutting Edge, directed by Paul Michael Glaser. He then
made the successful transfer from sport to the stage, playing the Prince
in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella at the St Louis MUNY; Munkustrap in
Cats and Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show as well as various high
profile pantomime productions. He also appeared in the celebratory closing
performance of Cats at the New London Theatre on 11 May 2002.
Robin choreographed "The Wizard of Oz on Ice" for Kenneth Feld and then
"Toy Story on Ice" which ran for seven successful years including a 2001
UK tour and also directed/choreographed Lloyd Webber's "Starlight Express
on Ice". He re-joined "Holiday on Ice" as choreographer for their productions, "Colours of Dance" and "In Concert".
